June Newsletter: Your Symphony Online
Dear Friend,
These recent times have been some of the toughest we have weathered together as a community. We here at the Modesto Symphony Orchestra hope you are all staying safe and healthy.
While we were heartbroken to cancel our concerts, every cancellation was made in an effort to keep everyone involved safe. Unfortunately, with the closure of the Gallo Center through October, we will be offstage through the fall and have made the joint decision with the Gallo Winery to not hold this year’s Picnic at the Pops. We’ll send an update as soon as we have more information about our return to the stage.
We are currently exploring innovative ways to bring music into your homes and soon we will have a trial run of a live-streamed event with a small test audience. Their feedback will help guide us as we plan our digital content for the summer and into the fall. We are exploring everything from small intimate performances to live Q&A’s with our musicians and artistic staff. We look forward to reconnecting with those that have supported us throughout the years and also to create a space where an even larger portion of our community can come together, enjoy music, and be inspired.
Our MSYO staff was able to stay connected with our students via Zoom through the end of their season. They discussed various areas of their musicianship including the role each person plays in an ensemble and how to prepare for auditions. A virtual sendoff was held to bid farewell and much success to the 22 seniors graduating this year.
This is an entirely new landscape for the MSO, and we cannot thank you enough for your ongoing support of our efforts to adapt these past months. The loss of ticket sales and sponsorships is a challenge, but you can help us as we build our new path forward. Our Board of Directors came together and will match all gifts up to $25,000 until June 30th. Meaning every gift received will have twice the impact not only on the MSO, but on our community as a whole. Donate today and you can help us continue to work to provide music and education programs for all.
Next season may not be what we’re used to, but we will tackle this challenge head-on and find new and unique ways to stay connected with our community. Take care and we look forward to connecting with you again soon.
Sincerely,
